A short stay in the hospital

Our little angel has had rough week. He started to come down with what seemed like a little cold this time last week and quickly turned into more. I took him to his doctor and she said he has Bronchiolitis. It's a typical lower respiratory virus in infants but, like everything else, is harder on Tanner than most. The virus cannot be helped with medicine so we just had to keep suctioning and using the humidifier. Late Thursday afternoon it really became worrisome. Tanner was just irritable, working very hard to breath, and barely eating. So, we headed to CHOP where they admitted him and kept a close eye on his stats. They gave us an inhaler to help him when breathing becomes tough and he was released Friday night. He's slowly getting better. He's eating SOME formula and a few bottles of pedialyte for hydration. He's not sleeping very well though. It's tough with the congestion. All of this is making me think about the swine flu. I can't imagine how hard that would be on his little body.....but the "newness" of the vaccine also scares me. It something we have to make a decision about soon.
We haven't been doing a lot of therapy at home because I feel like it will exhaust him and he won't eat. I'm not sure if that's the right move or not but his OT comes tomorrow so I'll ask her.
I do have some pictures from last week that I've been meaning to post. I hope you enjoy them. Take care everyone and thanks for checking in.
Tanner likes to sit up and he does pretty well with the WHOLE couch supporting him.
Here's Carter checking Tanner out. He likes to "pet" Tanner and share his blanket with him. He's totally a Binky addict. It is something I have to get rid of before he turns 3.
Tanner passed out on the couch when he first started to get sick. He was exhausted.

I'm so glad Tanner is feeling better. This is going to be a tough season. We are also thinking about the flu vaccines and really don't want to give them to Riley but I am so nervous about her getting sick. We started her on probiotics and infant vitamins so hopefully that will help. Take care of that little man and yourself!!!!

Glad to hear Tanner's doing better. Haley came down with a cold-like symptoms on Friday and by bedtime that night was coughing, runny nose, fever, chills, throwing up... Jim took her to the doctor Sat. while I was at work. H1N1 test was negative. With the congestion, it sounds like she's snoring. All of her doctor's have recommended flu vaccines. She has always had the general every year without even a fever afterward but still undecided about the H1N1 vaccine.

Tanner looks good sitting up. This is something Haley didn't begin until this summer at the age of 3.

Glad you're back to blogging. I check on Tanner, Riley and Norrah everyday after work.

Hope Tanner is feeling better soon. It is so hard when they get sick. We have just been through that with our Ryley. Just seems to take that bit longer for our kids to get better.
He looks great sitting up! That is how Ryley started to sit up...taking up the whole couch!!
Look after yourselves x
